Last night I had one of my pieces displayed at a fancy bar downtown in Boston. Several hundred people came out (on a Tuesday night) to check out all the work, and I met a lot of interesting and talented people.
Aaron Cohen, the founder of the Super Precious Art Gallery, was speaking with me and said, “I’m sorry to be blunt, but I was excited when you contacted me about the show because we need more female artists.” He just didn’t know where to find them. That’s one of the best, most hopefuly, most honest things I’ve heard in a long time. And I’m happy to help him find some.
I also met talented artists Ira F. Cummings and Josh Lafayette. Check out their work if you get a sec.
I went out to eat after the gallery show and noticed a familiar face sitting at the bar. It was the lead singer, Dua, of the Bad Rabbits. I really love that band and saw them at a Converse function, so I decided to bother him and buy him a drink and he was very funny and charming and great to talk to. He asked me if I did artwork for CD covers, and I replied that i do.
I’m in this quarter’s ArtScope magazine with a pretty decent-sized interview about me and my illustration work. I’ve always wanted to be featured in that magazine, and I’m featured alongside Boston artists Tofusquirrel, Veronica Fish, and Jennifer Lewis (some of my FAVORITE artists ever). Pick one up free at any art store/art museum nationwide!
I’m working on pages for Bartkira, and I’ll be creating my first roller derby bout poster for our July game. My league is the Bay State Brawlers. I get to draw one of our players into the flier, and I might draw her in as Wonder Woman.
Also yesterday I drew a ghost-deer floating out of a slice of pizza.
Art update.
