I’m beginning to understand that the amount of projects I take on as an illustrator is never truly going to get me where I want to be with my art. Only creating art, good art that is truly mine, will do that. I need to consider myself as an artist and act like one if I ever expect people to do the same.
I’m not taking any more projects on for a while unless it’s major $$ (ha ha). I’m going to focus on my own work and doing it BETTER and MORE FREQUENTLY and BEING SATISFIED that I’m not the 35 year old artist I want to be yet.
I’ve spoken with so many incredible artists lately, been to some amazing, truly humbling gallery shows and have just been more exposed to the fine art/street art/illustration world than usual. I’m going to really take advantage of the privileges and materials and consistent paychecks I make and just get somewhere. Now’s the time - the time is now.
